Attention! The air conditioning system is constantly under high pressure. Never disconnect refrigeration lines or remove any system components without first discharging the system. The discharge of the air conditioning system must be carried out by an experienced specialist in a car service workshop. Always wear safety goggles when disconnecting refrigerant lines!
Warning! The vehicles covered in this manual are equipped with the SRS Supplemental Safety System, better known as the airbag. Before doing any work near the cushion or steering column assembly, be sure to turn off the system to avoid injury from accidental operation (see chapter Onboard electrical equipment).
1. Discharge the air conditioning system in a specialized workshop.
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Deactivate the airbag.
Attention! If the stereo system installed in the car is equipped with a security code, before disconnecting the battery, make sure that you have the correct combination to activate the audio system!
3. Turn out bolts and disconnect from the evaporator two refrigerant lines (see accompanying illustration). Seal open line ends and fittings immediately to prevent dirt from entering the system.
4. Remove the glove box (see chapter Body).
5. Disconnect the electrical wiring from the K / V thermostat and remove the wire harness clamps from the evaporator casing.
6. Give fasteners (see accompanying illustration), disconnect the drain hose from the assembly and remove the evaporator from the vehicle.
7a. Remove the front fixing screws.
7b. Unscrew the rear fixing screws, release the clamps (see accompanying illustrations) and divide the evaporator casing into two halves, having previously removed the A/C thermostat from it.
8. Remove the evaporator heat exchanger from the casing, if necessary, remove the expansion valve.
9. Have the system charged by a specialist workshop.
