Attention! The air conditioning system is constantly under high pressure. Never disconnect refrigeration lines or remove any system components without first discharging the system. The discharge of the air conditioning system must be carried out by an experienced specialist in a car service workshop. Always wear safety goggles when disconnecting refrigerant lines!
When replacing air conditioning system components, a certain amount of replacement refrigerant oil will be required to fill the volume of the new assembly. Use only oil suitable for use in R-134a systems (read the label on the container carefully).
Withdrawal
1. Discharge the air conditioning system in a specialized workshop.
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Attention! If the stereo system installed in the car is equipped with a security code, before disconnecting the battery, make sure that you have the correct combination to activate the audio system!
3. Turn out bolts and disconnect from the evaporator two refrigerator lines.
4. Cap open line ends and fittings immediately to prevent dirt from entering the system.
5. Remove the passenger knee support, the metal bar located under it and the glove box with its frame (see chapter Body).
6. Disconnect the electrical wiring from the thermostat.
7. Release the fasteners securing the evaporator casing to the bulkhead of the engine compartment and instrument panel.
8. Disconnect the drain hose and remove the evaporator assembly from the vehicle.
9. Remove the temperature sensor from the evaporator.
10. Remove air filters with trays (see chapter Settings and ongoing maintenance), then remove the screws, split the casing into two halves and release the evaporator from it. If necessary, remove the expansion valve.
Installation
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Do not forget to replace the o-rings of the fitting connections - before installation, lubricate the new rings with R-134a refrigerant oil. Tape the capillary tube of the expansion valve to the suction line with adhesive tape and install the temperature-sensitive sensor in its regular place.
2. Have the system charged and checked for leaks in a specialist workshop. When replacing the evaporator, add about 40 ml of refrigerant oil to the system.
