When operating a car in a very dusty area, a busy urban cycle (frequent short trips), and when towing a trailer frequently, routine maintenance intervals should be kept as short as possible.
Maintenance of a new vehicle should be carried out in the original service center of the sales representative of the vehicle manufacturer in order to avoid violating the factory warranty.

- Check the condition of the suspension and steering components, as well as the protective covers of the CV joints of the drive shafts (see Section Inspection of suspension and steering components, checking the condition of the protective covers of the drive shafts).*
- Check the condition of the exhaust system components (see Section Check of a condition of components of system of release of the fulfilled gases).
Every 48,000 km (30,000 miles) mileage, or every 24 months (what comes first)
In addition to the checks listed in the previous subsection:

Every 168,000 km (105,000 miles) mileage or every 72 months (what comes first)
- Replace spark plugs on V6 models (see Section Checking the condition and replacing spark plugs).
- Replace timing belt and balance shaft drive belt (see chapter Engine). ***
* When operating the vehicle under stressful conditions, perform all procedures marked with an asterisk every 12,000 km (7500 miles) mileage or every 6 months (what comes first).
Stress refers to the following operating conditions:
- Strong dustiness of the area;
- Trailer towing;
- Long engine idling/low speed driving;
- Low ambient temperature (below 0°С) combined with short trips (less than 6 km [4 miles]).
** When operating the vehicle under any of the following conditions, procedures marked with two asterisks must be performed every 25,000 km (15,000 miles) mileage:
- Busy urban cycle at high ambient temperatures (over 32°С);
- Driving in hilly or mountainous areas.
*** When operating the car in all the above conditions, the timing belt and the balancing shaft drive belt should be replaced every 96,000 km (60,000 miles) run.
General information
This Chapter has been compiled to help the car owner keep his vehicle in a state of maximum readiness for operation, getting from it an effective return in compliance with the requirements for economy and safety.
At the beginning of the Chapter the schedule of current service of the car is given. Below, the reader is offered Sections devoted to a detailed description of the procedure for performing each of the maintenance procedures separately. The Sections material includes descriptions of visual inspections, adjustments, removal and installation procedures for components, as well as various useful tips and tricks. The illustrations given at the beginning of the Section showing views of the engine compartment, suspensions and steering will help the reader understand the placement of serviceable components on the vehicle.
By servicing the car in accordance with the mileage-time schedule, and following the detailed recommendations below, the reader will receive a clear program of actions, the implementation of which will ensure the long-term and reliability of the service of his vehicle. Remember that this program is compiled on a comprehensive basis and the implementation of only some of its points with neglect of others will not lead to the desired result.
In the process of servicing his car, the reader will soon be convinced that many procedures can, and should, be combined into general groups due to the similarity of their nature or the proximity of the nodes. For example, if the car is lifted off the ground for any reason, you should take the opportunity and at the same time check the condition of the components of the exhaust system, suspension and steering. Also, when renting a torque wrench, check the tightening torque of all available threaded fasteners. When rotating the wheels, at the same time evaluate the condition of the brakes and wheel bearings.
The first step in vehicle maintenance is always self-preparation of the performer. Carefully read the material in this Chapter, then make a list of components that need attention, prepare the necessary tools and outline a brief plan for the work ahead. In the event of unresolved problems, seek help from car service specialists.
