Brake Master Cylinder: 1. Central valve A; 2, 3. Channel; 4. Secondary chamber piston; 5. Central valve B; 6. Primary chamber piston
Typical view of the master cylinder (CR-V): 1. Bushings; 2. Gasket. Check for wear and damage; 3. Cover. Check the cleanliness of the ventilation hole; 4. Strainer (rinse); 5. Tank. Check for damage; 6. Oil seal. Check for wear and damage; 7. Silicone grease; 8. Master cylinder. Check the condition of the inner surface.
Attention! Brake fluid in Honda anti-lock braking system units (in the pump, modulator, hydraulic accumulator) is under very high pressure. Decompress the system before disconnecting any hydraulic lines. Failure to do so or decompression incorrectly may result in injury. For decompression use tee 07HAA-SG00100 or equivalent.
1. Disconnect the battery from the ground.
2. Disconnect wiring.
3. Remove the cap and drain the brake fluid from the reservoir.
4. Disconnect from the cylinder of a tube.
5. Release nuts of fastening of the cylinder to the vacuum amplifier, then remove the cylinder.
6. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
7. Fill the cylinder with DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid.
8. Bleed air from cylinder (see below).
Air removal
The procedure is performed both on the removed cylinder and directly on the car.
1. Secure the cylinder in a vise.
2. Attach pieces of brake tubes to the cylinder. Bend them so that the end of the tube is slightly below the liquid level in the cylinder reservoir.
3. Fill reservoir with DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid.
4. Press the master cylinder piston until the bubbles disappear from the reservoir.
5. Disconnect the tubes, add fluid to the cylinder and close the cylinder openings with plugs.
6. If the cylinder is installed on the car, then do the following.
- a. Loosen the tube 1/4 turn.
- b. Ask an assistant to press the brake pedal, wrap the tube and ask an assistant to slowly release the pedal.
- c. Check the fluid level in the reservoir, top up if necessary.
- d. Repeat the procedure for all tubes until no more bubbles come out.
Attention! Always tighten the tube fitting before releasing the pedal.
7. If necessary, completely bleed the air from the brake system.
If the procedure for removing air from the master cylinder is carried out properly, bleeding the entire brake circuit is not required.
