Master Brake Cylinder — Removal and Installation (Honda Fit 1)

1. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.

Note: Before disconnecting the wire from the battery, make sure you know the access code for the radio. Otherwise, the radio will be blocked.


2. Remove the battery.

3. Remove the cover (A).

Loosen the bolt, remove the clutch fluid reservoir bracket (A) and place it aside.

Note: Do not disconnect the hose from the tank.

5. Remove the brake fluid reservoir cap and pump out the brake fluid from the reservoir.



6. Disconnect the low brake fluid level sensor connector (A).

7. Disconnect the brake pipes (B) from the brake master cylinder (C).

Note: After disconnecting the tubes, install the plugs on them.


8. Loosen the nuts (D) securing the master brake cylinder and remove the washers (E).

9. Remove the brake master cylinder from the brake booster (F).

10. Remove the oil seal (G).

Caution: When installing, position the oil seal as shown in the figure.


Note:
  • Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
  • After installation: Check and, if necessary, adjust the height and free travel of the brake pedal;
  • Bleed the brake system (see section "Bleeding the brake system").
