4. Check the cone surface (E) on the gear hubs for wear and roughness.



5. Check for uneven wear, scratches, burrs and cracks on the teeth of all gears.

6. Apply oil to the cone surface of gear (E) and insert the synchronizer ring into the corresponding gear. Turn the synchronizer ring and make sure it does not slip.

7. Measure the clearance between the gear (A) and the corresponding synchronizer ring (B) over the entire circumference. When measuring the gap, press the synchronizer ring evenly against the gear. If the clearance is less than the specified limit, replace the synchronizer ring and gear.
