Checking and disassembling the synchronizer cage and hub (Honda CR-V 2)

1. Check the teeth on all synchronizer hubs and races. If the corners of the teeth are rounded, this indicates wear.

2. Insert each synchronizer hub (A) into its corresponding synchronizer race (B) and check that they rotate freely. Be sure to align the 3 pairs of longer teeth (C) (with a 120 degree shift) on the synchronizer sleeve with 3 deeper grooves (D) on the synchronizer hub. Do not insert the synchronizer sleeve with the long teeth into the recesses (E) on the 1st/2nd gear synchronizer hub, otherwise you will damage the snap ring.

Note: The synchronizer sleeve and hub must be replaced as a set.
