2. Install the 3rd/4th synchronizer hub (A), spacer sleeve (B), 5th synchronizer hub (C), spacer sleeve (D) and ball bearing (E) to the secondary shaft (F), then install these components as an assembly to the transmission case (G).

3. Install the washer (H) on the secondary shaft.
4. Measure the distance [a] between the end of the gearbox housing and the washer using a ruler and calipers. Take measurements in three places and average the readings.
5. Measure the distance [b] between the end face of the clutch housing (A) and the inner ring of the bearing (B) using a ruler and depth gauge. Take measurements in three places and average the readings.

Formula for selecting an adjusting washer
6. Select the required 72mm adjusting washer from the table. Take the example below as a template and use the measurement results obtained in steps. 4 and 5:
Basic formula
[a] + (b] - (0.8 + 0.11) = thickness of adjusting washer (maximum)
[a] + [b] - (0.8 + 0.17) = thickness of adjusting washer (minimum)
- Add the distance [B] (item 5) to the distance [a] (item 4).
- 0.8mm: Spring washer, the size of which is taken into account during assembly.
- 0.11 mm: Minimum thrust clearance.
- 0.17 mm: Maximum thrust clearance.
For example
2.32 + 0.15 - (0.8 + 0.11) = 1.56 mm
2.32 + 0.15 - (0.8 + 0.17) = 1.50 mm
Take the average between the minimum and maximum values and select a 1.53 mm thick adjusting washer.

7. Install the selected 72 mm adjusting washer (A) and the oil transfer plate M into the gearbox housing (B).

8. Before installing the spring washer (A) and washer (B) on the ball bearing (C) on the clutch housing side, clean them thoroughly. Observe the installation direction of the spring washer.

9. Install the secondary shaft into the clutch housing.
10. Place the gearbox housing on the secondary shaft and on the clutch housing.
11. Tighten the transmission and clutch housings with several 8 mm bolts.
Note: It is not necessary to apply sealant between the crankcases.
12. Tap the secondary shaft with a plastic hammer.
13. Secure the tool to the secondary shaft as follows:
- Remove the secondary shaft retainer bolt (A) and loosen the two hex head bolts (B).

- Place the retainer on the secondary shaft with the edge facing the gearbox.
- Align the edge of the secondary shaft locking pin with the groove on the inner spline of the secondary shaft, then tighten the hex bolts.
14. Fully seat the secondary shaft by tapping its end with a plastic hammer.
15. Screw in the secondary shaft retainer bolt until it just touches the wide area at the base of the secondary shaft.
16. Set the indicator (A) to zero by resting its head against the end of the secondary shaft.

17. Turn the secondary shaft lock bolt (B) clockwise, stop turning when the indicator (A) reaches the end of its travel. The indicator reading is the secondary shaft axial play.
Continuing to turn the secondary shaft lock bolt more than 60 degrees after the indicator needle stops moving may damage the transmission.
18. If the readings are within normal limits, the gap is correct. If the readings differ from the norm, recheck the thickness of the adjusting washer.
Standard: 0.11 - 0.17 mm
