Does the starting load exceed 29 N (3.0 kgf)?

Yes. Go to L. 2.

No. The amplification is fine.

2. Measure the steady-state liquid pressure at the pump outlet at idle speed.

The pressure is 1500 kPa (15 kgf/cm²) or less?

Yes. Proceed to p. 3.

No. Proceed to p. 7.

3. Measure the pump unloading pressure at idle speed.

Engines of models K20A4 and K20A5: The pressure is 6900-7500 kPa (70-77 kgf/cm²) or less?

Engines model K24A1: The pressure is 7500-8100 kPa (76-83 kgf/cm²) or less?

Yes. Proceed to p. 4.

No. The pump assembly is faulty.

4. Using a spring balance, measure the power steering load in both directions: left and right.

Both measurements within 2.9 N?

Yes. Proceed to p. 5.

No. Proceed to p. 8.

5. Measure the fluid pressure with the shut-off valve and the pressure gauge valve open by turning the steering wheel all the way to the left and all the way to the right.

Engines of models K20A4 and K20A5: The pressure is 6900-7500 kPa (70-77 kgf/cm²) or less?

Engines model K24A1: The pressure is 7500-8100 kPa (76-83 kgf/cm²) or less?

Yes. Proceed to p. 6.

No. The steering mechanism is faulty.

6. Adjust the steering rack guide and recheck.

Is the steering ok?

Yes. The repairs are complete.

No. The steering mechanism is faulty.
