Removal

1. Disconnect the battery from ground.

2. Remove the cylinder head cover.

3. Turn the crankshaft so that the white mark on the crankshaft pulley aligns with the pointer on the oil pump cover.

4. Unscrew the plugs of the inspection holes in the upper belt cover and check the alignment of the marks on the sprockets with the indicators on the upper cover.

5. Raise the vehicle and remove the front wheels.

6. Release the tensioner and remove the alternator belt.

7. Remove the power steering pump, move it to the side and secure it without disconnecting the hoses.

8. Jack up the engine using a board. Remove the side engine mount.

9. Remove the oil level indicator pipe.

10. Remove the crankshaft pulley and both camshaft belt covers.
11. Secure by screwing a bolt into the threaded hole of the tensioner adjuster bracket (it is recommended to use a stud unscrewed from the battery mounting clamp, thread the threaded part of the stud on an emery wheel at an angle of 45°).

12. Remove the engine mount bracket by unscrewing the bolts.

13. Loosen the tensioner intermediate roller mounting bolt by 5-6 turns (located to the right of the camshaft belt tensioner) and remove the belt.

Installation

14. Check the alignment of the mark on the crankshaft pulley with the pointer on the oil pump cover, as well as the alignment of the marks on the camshaft sprockets with the pointers on the rear (not removed) cover.

15. Before putting on the belt, adjust the tensioner adjuster as follows.

  • a. Remove the fixing bolt.
  • b. Loosen the bolts and remove the tensioner.
  • c. Clamp the tensioner in a vice (photo), carefully unscrew the plug without spilling oil (the volume of oil in the tensioner is 6.5 ml(engine oil is used)
  • d. Screw in the screw to compress the regulator spring and secure the spring with the bracket. Screw in the plug and tighten to 8 Nm.
  • e. Install the tensioner with the compressed spring on the engine, tighten the bolts to 8 Nm.

16. Put on the camshaft belt, moving it counterclockwise first onto the crankshaft sprocket, then onto the intermediate pulley, the left camshaft sprocket, the coolant pump sprocket, the right camshaft sprocket, and the tensioner roller.

17. Tighten the idler pulley bolt to 44 Nm.

18. Remove the tensioner bracket.

19. Install the engine support and belt covers.

20. Check the crankshaft pulley tightness (the torque should be 245 Nm.). Turn the crankshaft 5-6 revolutions in the direction of normal rotation.

21. Set the piston of the 1st cylinder to TDC of the compression stroke, aligning the marks on the crankshaft, and check the alignment of the marks on the camshaft sprocket.

22. Install the removed parts and units in the reverse order, adjust the belt tension. Tighten the engine mount bracket bolts and remove the jack from under the engine.
