Caution. The crankshaft pulley bolt has a right-hand thread. When turning the crankshaft counterclockwise using the pulley bolt, the bolt may come loose. After completing the work, tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt with the required force using a TORX key.

  • Bolt: 16x1.5mm

: 245 Nm (25.0 kg·m)

1. Disconnect the terminal and connector of the generator electrical wiring, remove the electrical wiring from the valve cover (see below).

3. Check the belt for damage, wear, and traces of oil and coolant along its entire length.
  • To check, rotate the pulley. If there is damage or the belt is worn, replace it (see below).

If there are traces of oil or coolant, remove the belt, wipe each area near the belt and install a new belt.



The belt is installed in the reverse order of removal. The valve cover is installed in the following order.

1. Install the valve cover gasket accurately by aligning the corner sections.

  • Before installing the gasket, thoroughly clean the gasket grooves and wipe the gasket with a cloth.

  • Use genuine Honda sealant 1216, 5699, 1216E or 5999.
  • Do not use old sealant.
  • Remove dirt and oil from the sealant application surface.
  • If more than 5 minutes have passed since applying the sealant, do not install the cover. Remove the sealant and reapply it.
  • After installing the cap, fill the engine oil after 30 minutes or more.

3. To prevent the valve cover gasket from falling out, hold the camshaft bearing mounting surfaces (upper part of the semicircular section) with your fingers, install the valve cover and rock it slightly to ensure the gasket is seated correctly.



Attention:
  • Before installing the valve cover, wipe the mounting surface of the cylinder head with a rag.
  • Do not touch the surface where the sealant is applied.
  • Check the washer for deformation, damage, check the mounting surface.
  • Before installing the valve cover, lubricate the edges (shaded part) of the spark plug tube seals with engine oil.
