Balance shaft belt and tensioner (4-cylinder Odyssey): 1. Front balance shaft drive sprocket; 2. Rear balance shaft drive sprocket; 3. Balance shaft drive sprocket; 4. Align the groove on the front pulley with the pointer on the oil pump housing
1. Remove the engine.
2. Remove the cylinder head.
3. Remove the upper camshaft belt cover.
4. Set the piston of the 1st cylinder to TDC of the compression stroke, aligning the marks on the crankshaft pulley.
5. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
6. Remove the oil level indicator pipe.
7. Remove the side engine mount.
8. Remove the upper camshaft belt cover.
9. If only the balance shaft belt is to be removed, the camshaft belt tension should be maintained by screwing a 6.0x1.0x25 bolt into the tensioner plate.
10. Loosen the balance shaft belt tensioner adjusting nut by 2/3 - 1 turn, move the tensioner away and tighten the nut.
11. Remove the balance shaft belt.
12. Loosen the bolts and remove the gear housing.
13. The rear shaft is located on the side of the engine compartment wall (in the original engine location), front - from the radiator side.
14. Loosen the bolt and remove the rear balance shaft sprocket. To secure the shaft, unscrew the bolt at the rear of the cylinder block and insert a 6.0x100 mm stud into the hole to a depth of 74 mm, making a corresponding mark on the stud.
15. Remove the front balance shaft sprocket (shaft from the radiator side). To do this, secure the shaft by inserting a pin or screwdriver into the hole behind the sprocket and unscrew the nut.
16. Remove the outer balance shaft bearing cover.
17. Remove the tray.
18. Remove the oil pump.
19. Loosen the bolts and remove the thrust plate, remove the balance shafts.
20. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
