CR-V and 4-cylinder Odyssey
Removal
1. Mark and disconnect the high-voltage wires from the spark plugs.
2. Unscrew the bolts (starting with the bolts on the periphery of the cover and moving towards the center).
3. Remove all brackets and clamps from the cover, disconnect the hoses.
4. Remove the cylinder head cover (it is recommended to remove the seals first). If necessary, pry the cover at the corners, moving it no more than 1 mm.
Installation
5. Clean the separating surfaces of the cover and cylinder head.
6. Check the condition of the cover gasket and seals. If there are no cracks or signs of aging on the gasket and seals, they can be installed after thoroughly rinsing them in alcohol.
7. Install the seals in the cover, lubricating them with Honda sealant 08718-0001 or 08718-0003. Place the gasket in the groove of the cover.
8. Install the cover, applying sealant to the corners of the gasket with a 6 mm diameter roller. Tighten the bolts evenly to a torque of 9.8 Nm. Install all removed parts.
Odyssey V6
Removal
1. Remove the intake manifold.
2. Mark and disconnect the wires from the ignition coils and remove the coils.
3. Unscrew the bolts (starting with the bolts on the periphery of the cover and moving towards the center).
4. Remove the cylinder head cover, making sure that the seals are intact. If necessary, pry the cover at the corners, moving it no more than 1 mm.
Installation
5. Clean the separating surfaces of the cover and cylinder head.
6. Check the condition of the cover gasket and seals. If there are no cracks or signs of aging on the gasket and seals, they can be installed after thoroughly rinsing them in alcohol.
7. Install the seals in the cover, lubricating them with Honda sealant 08718-0001 or 08718-0003. Place the gasket in the groove of the cover.
8. Install the cover, applying sealant to the corners of the gasket with a 6 mm diameter roller. Tighten the bolts evenly to a torque of 9.8 Nm. Install all removed parts. Replace the intake manifold gasket.
