Attention. The crankshaft pulley bolt has a right hand thread. When turning the crankshaft counterclockwise with the crankshaft pulley bolt, it may loosen. After completing the work, tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt to the required torque using a Torx wrench.

: 245 N·m (25.0 kg m)
1. Remove the generator (see ch. electrical equipment), remove the alternator bracket (see below).
2. Remove valve cover and top cover.
- Be careful not to get engine oil on the belts.
- See above for valve cover installation.
- Do not use the top cover to store small parts. Remove dirt with a cloth before installing the cover.
3. Remove the dipstick guide tube, crankshaft pulley and bottom cover.
- Do not use the bottom cover to store small parts. Be sure to remove dirt with a cloth before installing the bottom cover.
- Be careful not to damage the rubber seals when installing the bottom cover.
4. Install the crankshaft pulley and tighten the pulley bolt to the required torque (see above).
5. Check the entire length of the belt for damage, wear, engine oil and coolant.
Check by rotating the crankshaft.
- Replace belt if damaged or worn (see above).
- If there is engine oil or coolant on the belt, remove the belt, wipe down each area near the belt, and install a new belt.
