General information
The distributorless ignition system is fitted to the V6 Odyssey models. The ignition timing is controlled automatically by the PCM engine processor unit (Powertrain Control Module). In this system, interruption of current in the primary circuit of the coil (1 coil per cylinder) provided by an electronic module built into the ignition coil, under the action of signals from the processor unit. The engine processor unit receives control pulses from the TDC sensors, the cylinder position sensor, the absolute pressure sensor in the intake manifold (MAP sensor) and a knock sensor. Adjustment of the ignition system without a distributor is not provided.
Examination
If the ignition system fails, check the serviceability of the sensors (see Chap. 4), wiring and ignition coils. If all devices and ignition parts are in good order, then the failure is due to a malfunction of the engine processor unit. If the ignition failure is due to the failure of the most important devices or ignition devices, then the control lamp of the diagnostic system lights up on the dashboard (the processor unit allocates faulty nodes by priority). In this case, you should read the diagnostic codes in a car service and determine the faulty node.
