The CR-V and 4-cylinder Odyssey models use a contactless distributor ignition system. The ignition timing is controlled by the engine processor unit, which generates ignition control pulses in response to signals from 3 sensors - the crankshaft rotation sensor (SKR sensor), tDC sensor and cylinder position sensor (CYP sensor). The CKP sensor monitors the fuel injection moment and determines the engine speed, the TDC sensor determines the ignition moment and records abnormal crankshaft speed when starting the engine, the CYP sensor determines the position of the 1st cylinder, the signal from it sets the start of sequential fuel injection into the cylinders. All these sensors are inductive, mounted on the distributor shaft and are a rotating magnet passing near the sensor coil, in which an electrical signal is induced by magnetic induction.

Attention! After removal and installation of ignition system parts (coil, distributor or electronic ignition module) the contents of the cells of the idle speed settings memory area of the engine processor unit should be deleted. To do this, after connecting the battery to ground, start the engine, bring the engine speed to 3000 rpm, wait for the cooling system fan to turn on and switch the engine to idle for 5 minutes (all consumers must be switched off and the gearshift lever must be in the Park or Neutral position).
