1. The manufacturer recommends checking using a spark gap to which the wire from the candle is connected. The second electrode of the spark gap is connected to ground. If a spark is observed in the spark gap when cranking the crankshaft, then the ignition system is working.
2. If the spark is absent, then check up details and devices of system of ignition separately.
Ignition check by engine power drop
It is allowed to check the ignition by sequentially disconnecting the wires from the candles using special insulating pliers. This check allows you to install a cylinder in which there is no ignition. When the wire is disconnected, the engine will start to run intermittently. Reinstall the wire and disconnect the wire on the next cylinder. If the nature of the engine does not change, then check the spark plug and wire. Repeat the test on the remaining cylinders.
Attention! The disconnected high-voltage wire must be properly grounded.
Adjustments
On CR-V and Odyssey 2.2/2.3L models, only basic ignition setting is allowed (procedure is discussed in Chap. 1).
