The sensor determines the engine speed and the crankshaft rotation angle, on the basis of which the ignition timing is determined and adjusted. On Odyssey models, the sensor is also used to detect cylinder misfire. On 1995 CR-V and Odyssey models, the sensor is mounted in the distributor housing and when the sensor needs to be replaced, the distributor housing is replaced. On 1996-00 Odyssey models, the sensor is mounted under the camshaft belt cover, behind the crankshaft pulley.

Examination



CR-V and Odyssey 1995



1. Disconnect the connector on the ignition distributor housing and check the resistance between the sensor terminals, which should be 300-700 Ohms on CR-V models (measured between the blue and white wires) and on 1995 Odyssey models 700-1300 Ohm (measured between the blue-green and blue-yellow wires)

2. If the resistance differs from the norm, replace the ignition distributor housing.

Odyssey 1996-00



1. Disconnect the connector from the sensor and check the resistance between the sensor terminals, which should be 500-1000 ohms on 1996-97 Odyssey models and 1850-2450 ohms on 1998-00 Odyssey models

2. If the resistance differs from the norm, replace the sensor.

Removal and installation



CR-V and Odyssey 1995



1. Disconnect the battery from ground, disconnect the connector on the ignition distributor housing from the sensor, mark the position of the housing relative to the cylinder head and remove the housing.

2. Replace the parts that are missing from the new distributor housing.



3. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

Odyssey 1996-00



1. Disconnect the battery from ground, disconnect the connector from the sensor.

2. Remove the drive belts.

3. Remove the crankshaft pulley.

4. Remove the lower camshaft timing belt cover.

5. Remove the sensor. On 1996-98 vehicles, the crankshaft angle sensor is mounted in the TDC sensor, which should be removed first.

6. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
