Idle Air Control Valve (IAC valve) (Honda CR-V 1)

The valve ensures that part of the air flow is redirected around the throttle valve. The valve is controlled by the engine's processor unit. The valve limiter screw sets the minimum air flow corresponding to normal idle speed. The position of the limiter screw is set at the factory and is not subject to adjustment during operation (the screw is covered with a plug). A misadjusted screw may cause the valve to fail and the engine to run unsteadily at idle.

1. To check the valve, disconnect the connector from it (the engine is warm and idling). If the valve is working properly, the engine speed should drop sharply.

2. To remove the valve, disconnect the battery from ground, disconnect the connector and unscrew the 2 bolts.
