Removal



1. Disconnect the battery from ground.

2. On some vehicles, remove the TDC sensor mounted on the pump body.

3. Remove the camshaft timing belt drive sprocket from the crankshaft nose.

4. Secure the balance shaft by inserting a strong screwdriver into the hole behind the sprocket on this shaft, unscrew the bolt and remove the sprocket.

5. Unscrew the M12 plug on the right side of the cylinder block under the coolant pump, which closes the hole for fixing the rear balance shaft. Turn the balance shaft so that a tool can be inserted into the hole (screwdriver or punch) to a depth of 74 mm.

6. Remove the balance shaft drive gear housing and remove the guide pins.

7. Loosen the bolt and remove the balance shaft drive gear. Remove the shaft locking tool.

8. Remove the oil pan and oil receiver.

9. Loosen the bolts and remove the oil pump. Remove the guide pins from the cylinder block. Clean the pump and the cylinder block split surface.

Installation



10. Press the new crankshaft and balance shaft seals into the pump housing using a mandrel.

11. Install new pins and a new sealing ring into the cylinder block.



12. Apply to the split surface of the pump (in the middle of the flange part) a thin bead of sealant, lubricate the holes for the bolts with sealant (to avoid leaks, do not fill the engine with oil earlier than 30 minutes after installing the pump).

13. Install the pump and tighten the bolts to 12 Nm.

16. Secure the front balance shaft, install the sprocket and tighten the bolt to 29 Nm.

17. Secure the rear balance shaft, fit the sprocket and tighten the bolt to 25 Nm.

18. Lubricate the rubbing surfaces of the balance shaft gears with molybdenum grease.



19. Align the groove on the edge of the balance shaft with the pointer on the gear housing.

20. Install the gear housing, replacing the gasket. Tighten the bolts and nut. Secure the rear balance shaft with a 100 mm long, 6.0 mm diameter stud and tighten the bolts to 25 Nm.

21. Make sure that the pointer on the balance shaft sprocket aligns with the pointer on the oil pump housing.

22. Remove the stud and screw in the threaded plug with a new seal. Tighten the plug to 29 Nm.
