1st gear
- Hydraulic pressure is applied to the 1st gear clutch, then the 1st gear clutch engages the 1st gear of the driven shaft with the driven shaft.
- The intermediate gear of the drive shaft drives the driven shaft through the intermediate gear of the idler shaft and the intermediate gear of the driven shaft.
- The 1st gear pinion of the driven shaft drives the 1st gear pinion of the intermediate shaft and the intermediate shaft.
- Power is transmitted to the main drive pinion, which in turn drives the main drive pinion and the transfer case pinion.
- The transfer case drive pinion drives the transfer case drive pinion (hypoid gear) and the shaft of the driven gear of the transfer case (hypoid gear).

2nd gear
- Hydraulic pressure is applied to the 2nd gear clutch, then the 2nd gear clutch engages the 2nd gear of the driven shaft with the driven shaft.
- The intermediate gear of the drive shaft drives the driven shaft through the intermediate gear of the idler shaft and the intermediate gear of the driven shaft.
- The 2nd gear pinion of the driven shaft drives the 2nd gear pinion of the intermediate shaft and the intermediate shaft.
- Power is transmitted to the main drive pinion, which in turn drives the main drive pinion and the transfer case pinion.
- The transfer case drive pinion drives the transfer case drive pinion (hypoid gear) and the shaft of the driven gear of the transfer case (hypoid gear).

3rd gear
- Hydraulic pressure is applied to the 3rd gear clutch, then the 3rd gear clutch engages the 3rd gear of the driven shaft with the drive shaft.
- The 3rd gear pinion of the drive shaft drives the 3rd gear pinion of the intermediate shaft and the intermediate shaft.
- Power is transmitted to the main drive pinion, which in turn drives the main drive pinion and the transfer case pinion.
- The transfer case drive pinion drives the transfer case drive pinion (hypoid gear) and the shaft of the driven gear of the transfer case (hypoid gear).

4th gear
- Hydraulic pressure is supplied to the servo valve, which engages the reverse selector lever with the 4th gear pinion on the intermediate shaft when the shift lever is in the [D], [2], [1] position (forward gear range).
- Hydraulic pressure is also supplied to the 4th gear clutch, then the 4th gear clutch engages the 4th gear of the drive shaft with the drive shaft.
- The 4th gear pinion of the input shaft drives the 4th gear pinion of the intermediate shaft and the intermediate shaft.
- Power is transmitted to the main drive pinion, which in turn drives the main drive pinion and the transfer case pinion.
- The transfer case drive pinion drives the transfer case drive pinion (hypoid gear) and the shaft of the driven gear of the transfer case (hypoid gear).

Position [R]
- Hydraulic pressure is supplied to the servo valve, which engages the reverse selector lever with the intermediate shaft reverse gear when the shift lever is in the [A] position.
- Hydraulic pressure is also supplied to the 4th gear clutch, then the 4th gear clutch engages the drive shaft reverse gear with the drive shaft.
- The reverse gear of the drive shaft drives the reverse gear of the intermediate shaft through the reverse intermediate gear.
- The direction of rotation of the intermediate shaft reverse gear is changed by the intermediate reverse gear.
- The intermediate shaft reverse gear drives the intermediate shaft through the reverse selector lever, which drives the reverse selector lever hub.
- Power is transmitted to the main drive pinion, which in turn drives the main drive pinion and the transfer case pinion.
- The transfer case drive pinion drives the transfer case drive pinion (hypoid gear) and the shaft of the driven gear of the transfer case (hypoid gear).
