2. Remove the timing belt and balance shaft drive belt (see Sections Removal, condition check and installation of rocker arm assembly and Removal, condition check and installation of camshafts).
3. Remove the crankshaft pulley (see Section Removal, condition check and installation of rocker arm assembly).
4. Disconnect the wiring from the crankshaft/TDC position sensor (TFR/TDC sensor) (main cable connector). Remove the mounting bolts and remove the sensor assembly from the oil pump housing.
5. Remove the crankshaft sprocket and the concave washer underneath.
6. Gently prying with a special tool or a large screwdriver, remove the old oil seal from its seat in the oil pump housing. Try not to leave scratches and burrs on the surface of the shaft trunnion or pump housing - the presence of such defects will lead to a quick failure of the new stuffing box.
7. Clean the inside surfaces of the gland seat. Lubricate the outer edge of the new oil seal with clean engine oil or multipurpose grease. Using a socket head of the appropriate size as a mandrel, or a piece of pipe of a suitable diameter, put a new oil seal in its seat (the mandrel should rest only on the hard outer edge of the end face of the stuffing box). After seating the oil seal, make sure that the spacer spring does not pop out of its groove.
8. Place a concave washer on the crankshaft trunnion, then install the gear.
9. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order to the dismantling of the components.
10. Start the engine and check for signs of oil leaks.
