Ovality and taper
1. Remove the crankshaft from the cylinder block.
2. Clean the oil passages on the crankshaft using pipe cleaner and a suitable brush.
3. Clean the keyway and threads.
4. Measure the out-of-roundness at two places in the middle of each crankpin and main journal. The difference between the measurements on each journal must not exceed the wear limit.

Cervical ovality

5. Measure the taper on the edges of each crankpin and main journal. The difference between the measurements on each journal must not exceed the wear limit.

Straightforwardness
6. Place the cylinder block on the surface plate.
7. Clean and install bearings on journals No. 1 and No. 5 of the cylinder block.
8. Place the crankshaft into the block.
9. Measure the runout of all main journals. Turn the crankshaft two full revolutions. The difference between the measurements on each journal must not exceed the wear limit.
