Checking the starter brushes (Honda HR-V 1)

Measure the length of the brushes. If the length of the brushes is greatly reduced due to wear, replace the brushes (or the brush holder assembly).

Note: To ensure that the new brushes are seated in place after they are installed in the holders, wrap a strip of #500 or #600 sandpaper with the rough side facing outward around the commutator and gently rotate the rotor. This will sand the contact surface of the brushes to match the contours of the commutator.
