It is recommended to check the valve stem condition on 1995 Odyssey 2.2L models only, every 60,000 miles. If the engine is idling erratically, the valve stem should be checked on other models as well. To check, lightly pinch the valve hose while the engine is idling and warmed up. The valve is in good condition if a knocking sound is heard. Otherwise, replace the valve seal and check the hose for leaks. Replace the hose or valve (depending on which of these parts turns out to be faulty).
