Removal ball joints (Honda CR-V 2)

Warning. Always separate the ball joint using a puller. Avoid striking the housing or other parts of the ball joint.


1. Thread the hex nut (A) onto the ball joint thread (B). To avoid damaging the threaded ball joint pin, make sure the nut is flush with the end of the ball joint pin.

2. Apply grease to the special tool at the indicated locations (A). This will facilitate installation of the special tool and prevent damage to the threads of the jack bolts (B).

3. Install the special tool as shown in the figure. Insert the grips carefully to avoid damaging the ball joint boot. Adjust the distance between the jaws by turning the pressure bolt (A).

4. After making the adjustment with the bolt, make sure that the head of the adjusting bolt (B) is in the indicated position and allows the catch (C) to rotate.



5. Tighten the push bolt with a wrench until the ball joint pin comes out of the steering arm or steering knuckle. If necessary, loosen the ball joint with a wetting liquid.

Note: Do not tighten the jack bolt with an air or power tool.


6. Remove the special tool, then unscrew the nut from the ball joint pin and remove the ball joint from the steering knuckle or steering knuckle. Check the ball joint boot and replace it if damaged.
