Replacing ball joint covers (Honda HR-V 1)

1. Remove the boot from the tie rod end and wipe off the old grease from the ball joint.

2. Pack the lower portion of the ball joint with fresh grease.

2. COVER INSTALLATION AREA. Wipe off the grease.
3. BALL PIN TAPERED SECTION. Wipe off grease.


3. Pack the new boot and lip with fresh grease from the inside. Pack the new grease taking into account the following:
  • Do not apply grease to the boot installation area or the conical area of the ball pin.
  • Do not allow dust, dirt or other foreign materials to enter the case.

4. Install the new cover using a special tool. There should be no gaps in the areas where the cover is installed. After installing the cover, check if there is any dirty grease on the conical area of the ball pin and wipe it off if necessary.
