1. Remove both steering column covers.

2. Move the transmission selector to position N.

3. Loosen the nut and remove the cable end from the gear shift rod.

4. Pull the cable towards you until it stops and release. Feed the cable away from you.

5. Turn on the ignition and make sure that the N position lamp lights up.

6. Insert a 6 mm diameter pin into the hole in the retainer plate and pass it through the hole in the bracket.

7. Place the cable on the stud and tighten the cable locknut.

8. Remove the pin.

9. Move the selector to all positions and make sure that the indicator lamps light up in all selector positions.
