Note: To avoid damaging the paintwork, cover the fenders with protective towels.
1. Write down the frequencies of the radio stations with fixed tuning. First disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, then from the positive (+) terminal. Remove the battery.
2. Remove the air cleaner housing.
3. Remove the air intake pipe.
4. Remove the battery tray (A).
5. Disconnect the ground cable (B) from the transmission.

6. Disconnect the vehicle speed sensor (A) and the reversing light switch connector (B).

7. Remove the cable bracket (A), then disconnect the cables (B) at the top of the transmission. Carefully remove both cables together with the bracket so as not to bend the cables.

8. Carefully remove the slave cylinder so as not to bend the clutch pipe. After removing the slave cylinder, do not press the clutch pedal.

9. Remove the cover (A) from the wiring harness, unscrew the mounting bolts (B) of the water pipe, and loosen the mounting bolt (C) in the air cleaner housing mounting bracket. Lower the water tube slightly.

10. Secure the engine hanger bracket (D) with the spacer sleeve (E) into the bolt hole (F) on the engine cylinder block.
11. Remove both upper transmission mounting bolts.

12. Remove the gearbox support bracket (A) and unscrew the mounting bolt (B).

13. Remove the air cleaner bracket (C).
14. Raise the vehicle and support it securely.
15. Drain the transmission fluid. Screw the plug into the drain hole, installing a new washer.
16. Remove the mud deflector.

17. Remove the drive shafts.
18. Remove the intermediate shaft.
19. On 4WD models, remove the driveshaft.
20. Remove the mounting bolt from the front engine mount bracket.

21. Remove the three bolts securing the rear gearbox support.

22. Support the subframe with a jack, placing a 10x10x100 cm wooden block underneath.

23. Place marks (A) on the front suspension subframe (B) and mounting bolts (C), then remove the front suspension subframe.

24. Remove the clutch cover.

Model with 2.4L engine capacity

25. Remove the clamp (A) from the harness.
26. Remove the front engine mount (B).

27. Support the transmission with a jack and remove the four lower mounting bolts from the transmission.

28. Remove the two lower mounting bolts from the gearbox.

29. Move the gearbox away from the engine until the gearbox secondary shaft touches the clutch pressure plate, then lower the gearbox on the jack.
30. Remove the gearbox rear mount (A) and gearbox rear mount bracket (B).

31. Remove the boot (A), release fork (B) and release bearing (C) from the gearbox (D).
