Checking the tilt adjustment lever preload (Honda CR-V 2)

1. Move the tilt adjustment lever (A) three to five times from the "unlocked" position to the "locked" position; then measure the tilt adjustment lever preload at a distance of 10 mm from the end of the lever.

Preload: 70-90 N (7-9 kgf)

2. If the measurement is different from the standard, adjust the preload as follows.

• Loosen the tilt adjustment lever and move the steering column to the neutral position.
• Loosen the 6mm lock bolt (B) and remove the limiter (C). Do not loosen the tilt adjustment lever when installing the limiter or tightening the 6mm lock bolt.
• Adjust the preload by turning the tilt adjustment stop bolt (D) left or right.

• Pull the tilt adjustment lever to its highest position and lock the stopper. Check the preload again. If the measurement is still different from the standard, perform the above adjustment procedure again.
