Note: When assembling, please refer to the exploded view image.
1. Install the upper spring rubber seat (A) onto the upper spring seat (B), aligning the tab (C) on the seat with the notch (D) in the seat.
2. Insert the spring (E) into the groove on the installed support.
3. Install the bearing and shock absorber base onto the upper spring seat.
4. Install the upper spring seat and spring onto the strut spring compressor (A) and compress the spring slightly.
5. Thread the shock absorber assembly (B) through the compressed spring.
6. Insert the bottom of the spring (C) into the ledge (D) on the lower spring seat.
7. Make sure the notch (A) on the side of the upper spring seat (B) is in the position shown. Please note that there are two types of shock absorbers - A and B, and that the cutout position is different for each type.
Shock absorber type A: 51601 /51602-S9A-G02
Shock absorber type B: 51601/51602-S9A-G12
The catalog number is indicated on the label of the shock absorber assembly. If the cutout is different, repeat the procedure from step. 1 and assemble the spring and upper spring seat accordingly.
8. While holding the bottom of the shock absorber with your hand, compress the shock absorber spring. Do not compress the spring excessively.
9. Place the 12mm nut (A) on the shock absorber rod (B). Secure the shock absorber rod with the Allen key (C) and tighten the 12mm nut to the specified torque.
10. Remove the shock absorber assembly from the strut spring compressor.
