The starting system consists of a battery, starter, traction relay, ignition switch and connecting wires.

When the crankshaft rotates, the starter should consume a current of 250 A, and the voltage on the battery should drop to 9.6 V. The faulty electrical connections are checked by the voltage drop on the wires when the crankshaft rotates. The voltage drop between the (-) battery and the cylinder block should not exceed 0.2 V, and between the (+) - pole of the battery and the starter terminal should be close to 0.
