The condition of the high-voltage wires is checked at each engine adjustment or when inspecting the engine in case of troubleshooting. Check the wires for cracks, cuts, or other damage to the insulation, as well as the condition of the wire tips on the coil (ignition distributor) and on candles. Every 96,000 km or 48 months, check the resistance of the wires by disconnecting the wire at the ignition distributor (or a coil) and on the candle. The resistance of each wire should be no more than 25 kOhm. Replace wires with increased resistance.

Replace each wire individually, starting with the longest one. Make sure the new wire is an exact match to the one being replaced. Lay the new wire immediately along its route.
