2. Turn on the ignition, move the heater lever to the maximum heat output position and turn off the ignition.
3. Disconnect the battery from ground.
4. In the engine compartment, disconnect the cable from the tap by removing the heater bracket (the tap is located on the wall of the engine compartment, under the fuel filter).
5. Drain the liquid from the radiator of the cooling system.
6. On 4-cylinder Odysseys, remove the upper intake manifold.
7. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the heater hoses from the engine compartment side and drain the remaining fluid.
8. Unscrew the nut from the stud located at the top right above the heater hoses.
9. Remove the instrument panel (see Ch. 10).
10. On 4-cylinder Odysseys, remove the steering column bracket, center instrument panel brackets, and heater upper cover.
11. Remove the air conditioner evaporator by following these steps.
- In the engine compartment, disconnect and plug the evaporator tubes.
- Remove the glove box.
- Remove the mounting screws, bolt and nut, disconnect the drain hose and remove the evaporator.
12. Disconnect the connectors from the electric drive of the heater's dividing and mixing flaps, remove the latches and remove the wiring harnesses from the heater body.
13. Remove the latches and disconnect the air duct from the heater. Unscrew the nuts and remove the heater, avoiding spilling any remaining liquid.
14. Remove the cover, radiator hose seals, remove the clamp and take out the radiator.
15. Installation is carried out in reverse order, taking into account the following.
- When assembling, replace all air conditioner seals and fill the air conditioner with refrigerant at a car service center.
- When assembling the heater, lightly lubricate the hoses with sealant. Adjust the heater valve drive cable. To do this, move the lever on the instrument panel to the position corresponding to the complete closing of the valve, release the cable sheath fastening bracket and move the valve lever away from the wall of the engine compartment until it stops. Check that there is no slack in the cable and secure the sheath with a bracket.
