Attention! After disconnecting the battery, you can start work after at least 3 minutes. Otherwise, a failure code will be entered into the control box memory and the system control lamp will be constantly lit.


From the driver's side



1. Disconnect the battery from ground and wait 3 minutes.

2. On CR-V and Odyssey V6 models, remove the lower steering wheel cover and disconnect the air bag module connector.

3. On 2.2L Odyssey models, remove the lower steering wheel cover and locate the red jumper attached to the bracket. Disconnect the 3-pin connector and insert this jumper into the disconnected connector.

From the passenger side



1. Disconnect the wires from the battery.

2. Wait 3 minutes.

3. Remove the glove box or dashboard compartment. The airbag connector is mounted directly above the glove box or storage compartment.

4. On 2.2L Odyssey models, disconnect the airbag module connector. Some vehicles have a 3-pin security module connector that should be disconnected and plugged into the red jumper.



5. On CR-V, Odyssey V6, and Odyssey 2.3L models, disconnect the airbag module connector.

Seat belt tensioners



On CR-V, Odyssey V6 models produced after 1998, the seat belt pretensioners are part of the SRS system. The pretensioner is activated when the airbag inflates. After the airbag has deployed. The SRS control unit, airbags and tensioners must be replaced.

1. Remove the decorative trims from the left and right door pillars of the body.

2. Disconnect the tensioner plugs.
