The cruise control system starts working at a speed of over 40 km/h. The system is switched on by a switch on the cruise control panel. The on state is indicated by a glowing lamp on the switch.
When the switch is pressed, the system turns on/off periodically. The switch drive is pneumatic and consists of a diaphragm, rod and cable. The vacuum in the diaphragm is controlled by a solenoid valve. If the cruise control does not operate satisfactorily, check the adjustment of the clutch and brake pedals, the serviceability of the switch, the condition of the vacuum hoses, the drive cable, and the serviceability of the speed sensor. If the car loses speed, check the tightness of the pneumatic drive parts and the adjustment of the drive cable.
