The upper ball joint and suspension arm are a non-separable structure. If the ball joint fails, replace the upper control arm assembly.
1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Raise the lower arm with a jack by 50 mm.
3. Rock the wheel in a vertical plane, pushing it towards you and away from you.
4. If any play is detected, use a crowbar to wiggle the upper arm bushings. If there is play in the bushings, replace the upper arm. Insert a tire iron between the steering knuckle and the upper control arm, then rock the wheel. If there is any play, replace the lever.
