Removal
1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove the front wheels. Place a jack under the lower arm.
3. Remove the lower strut mount fork.
4. Press the ball joint out of the steering knuckle.
5. Disconnect the brake hose brackets from the rack.
6. Unscrew the upper mounting nuts and remove the rack.
7. Loosen the self-locking nuts of the upper arm mounting bolts and remove the arm.
Attention! The upper suspension arm is a non-separable structure. If there is wear or damage to the ball joint or bushings, replace the upper arm.
Installation
8. Install the upper arm onto the strut.
9. Install the stand. Secure the shock absorber fork with bolts.
10. Then the installation is carried out in reverse order. Replace all self-locking nuts. Tighten the upper arm bushing mounting nuts to the following torque (Nm):
- CR-V - 54
- Odyssey 4-cylinder - 64
Tighten the ball joint with a torque of 39-47 Nm. Finally tighten the rack fasteners after removing the car from the jack. When finished, check and adjust the front wheel alignment angles.
Upper control arm bushings
The lever assembly with bushings is a non-separable structure. If the bushings are worn out, the lever assembly with the bushings is replaced.
