2. Before installing the steering gear, move the rack towards the passenger side.
3. Place the rubber bushing on the worm shaft.
4. Install the steering gear into the engine compartment through the opening in the frame on the passenger side. Determine the installation position of the mechanism on the bulkhead of the engine compartment. When installing the mechanism, do not bend or damage the power steering tubes and cylinders.
5. Install the 10mm steering gear mounting bolts on the driver's side. Start them first, then tighten them securely.
6. Install the 10mm passenger side steering gear mounting bolts. Start them first, then tighten them securely.
7. Insert the stabilizer spring into the engine compartment through the hole in the frame on the passenger side.
Note: Do not change the installation direction of the stabilizer spring.
8. Tilt the stabilizer spring at an angle that you inserted in the previous step and rotate it to guide the driver's side stabilizer end through the hole in the driver's side frame.
9. Lower the lower control arm and place both ends of the stabilizer bar over the lower control arms.
10. Tilt the steering knuckle forward. Turn the stabilizer spring and place the stabilizer on top of the drive shaft. Also place the stabilizer spring on top of the drive shaft on the opposite side.
11. Place the right and left stabilizer holders on the corresponding bushings and tighten the mounting bolts.
Note: After installing the steering gear, tighten the bolts to the required torque when the stabilizer bears the weight of the vehicle.
12. Attach the right and left lower suspension arms to the steering knuckles (see chap. "Front and rear suspension").
13. Attach the right and left stabilizer spring to the stabilizer link.
Note: After installing the steering gear, perform the following operation when the stabilizer spring supports the weight of the vehicle.
- Place the stabilizer link ball joint pin in the middle of the joint travel length and attach it to the stabilizer spring.
- Tighten the bolts to the required torque, securing the ball joint pin with an Allen key.
14. Securely connect the outlet hose and tighten the adjustable hose clamp.
15. Connect the feed pipe and tighten the 14mm socket nut. Secure the feed pipe clamp to the steering gear. On right-hand drive vehicles: Secure the feed pipe clamp to the mounting bracket.
Note: Make sure that the tubes do not interfere with or interfere with other parts.
16. Connect the shift cable (CVT models only).
17. Center the steering rack within its travel.
18. Install the steering column joint and connect the steering column shaft to the worm shaft. Make sure that the steering column joint is connected as follows:
- Place the top end of the steering column joint onto the steering column shaft (align the bolt hole with the flat part on the shaft).
- Place the lower end of the steering column joint onto the worm shaft (align the bolt hole with the groove on the shaft) and tighten the lower bolt. Make sure the lower steering column joint bolt is securely tightened into the groove on the worm shaft.
- Pull the steering column joint to make sure it is fully seated. Then insert the upper joint bolt and tighten it.
19. Center the coiled cable by first turning it clockwise until it stops. Then turn it counterclockwise (approximately two and a half turns) until the arrow on the label points straight up. Install the steering wheel (see above).
20. Install the steering column joint cover.
21. Remove dirty grease from the cone portion of the ball joint and threads. Connect the tie rod ends to the steering knuckles. Install the 12 mm nut and tighten to the specified torque.
22. Install the front wheels.
23. Fill the system with power steering fluid and bleed the air from the system (see above).
24. After installation, perform the following checks.
- Start the engine, let it idle and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times to warm up the fluid. Check for any leaks from the steering gear (see above).
- Adjust the front wheel alignment (see chap. "Front and rear suspension").
- Check the angle of the steering wheel spokes. If necessary, adjust by turning the right and left steering rods.
Note: Rotate the right and left steering rods the same number of turns.
