Frequent inhalation of dust from brake pad surfaces, regardless of the material composition, can pose a health hazard.
- Do not inhale dust.
- Do not clean brake surfaces with compressed air or a brush. Use a vacuum cleaner.
1. Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely. Remove the rear wheels.
2. Release the parking brake and remove the brake caliper and rear wheel disc/drum.
3. Disconnect and remove the upper return springs (A).

4. Remove the tension pins (A) by pressing on the retainer springs (B) and turning the pins.

5. Disconnect the connecting rod spring (A) and remove the connecting rod (B).

6. Lower the parking brake shoe assembly.
7. Remove the leading brake shoe by unhooking the lower return spring (A) and removing the adjuster assembly (B).

8. Remove the driven brake shoe by disconnecting the parking brake cable (A) from the parking brake lever (B).

9. Remove the U-shaped clip (A), wave washer (B), parking brake lever (C) and axle (D) from the brake shoe.
