2. On models equipped with rear wheel drum brakes, remove the brake drum (s) (see Section Replacement of shoes of drum brake mechanisms of back wheels).
3. Loosen the adjusting nut on the equalizer assembly (see Section Parking brake adjustment). Disconnect the cable from the equalizer and remove the intermediate clamps from the cable sheath.
4. On models with rear wheel drum brakes, remove the shoe assembly (see Section Replacement of shoes of drum brake mechanisms of back wheels) and disconnect the parking brake cable from the rear shoe actuating lever. Depress the locking tabs on the cable sheath holder and use pliers or a special 12 mm wrench to release the cable from the brake shield.
Note. In the absence of a special key at hand, you can use a small screw clamp.
5. On models with rear wheel disc brakes, to disconnect the cable from the actuating lever, remove the clip and remove the split pin locking pin (see Section Replacement of shoes of drum brake mechanisms of back wheels). The cable sheath is additionally fixed in the bracket with a spring retainer.
6. Loosen the brackets of the intermediate clamps for attaching the cable to the bottom of the car. Remove the cable, remembering the route of its laying.
Note. It may also be necessary to remove the bolts securing the rear exhaust heat shield.
7. If necessary, remove the second drive cable in the same manner.
8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Don't forget to adjust the parking brake actuator.
