The rear door lock works in conjunction with a latch release that only unlocks the door when the rear window is lowered. Turning the key in the lock unlocks the glass. With the glass up, the door can be opened with a folding handle covered by the license plate cover. When the window is closed, the window frame rests against the latch and blocks the door opening handle.

2. Remove the license plate.
3. Remove the license plate trim by unscrewing the nuts and removing the bracket..
4. Remove the bracket and disconnect the door handle lock actuator rod from the latch retainer.
5. Remove the latch, remove the latch fasteners, and feed the latch with the latch down.
6. Measure the protrusion of the rod relative to the latch retainer bracket, remove the bracket.
7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
