2. Thoroughly clean the drive shaft and differential joint areas with solvent or carburetor cleaner and dry with compressed air. Insert the inner end of the drive shaft into the differential or intermediate shaft until the snap ring is seated in the groove.

4. Install the steering knuckle onto the lower control arm. Be careful not to damage the ball joint boot. Remove excess grease before tightening the nut on the ball joint. Tighten the castle nut to the lower tolerance limit, then tighten it just enough to align the slot with the hole for the cotter pin. Do not do this by loosening the nut.

9. Tighten the flange bolts and self-locking nut when the shock absorbers support the weight of the vehicle.

10. Fill the transmission with the recommended MTF or ATF fluid.

11. Check the front wheel alignment angles and adjust if necessary (see chap. "Front and rear suspension").
