1. Remove the snap ring from the inner joint.

  • If the clamps of the covers are of the welded type, cut them off.

3. Remove the retaining ring from the inner joint.



4. Apply marks to the inner joint and bearing cage as shown in the figure. Wrap the inner joint with a napkin and prevent the steel balls from falling out of the bearing cage, then separate the inner joint from the drive shaft.

5. Place marks on the drive shaft, bearing race and bearing retainer as shown in the figure.

6. Remove the steel ball from the bearing cage. Do not damage the steel ball.

7. Remove the ring clamp.

8. Remove the bearing race from the drive shaft using a bearing puller (commercially available).

10. To avoid damaging the inner boot, wrap the drive shaft splines with vinyl tape.



11. Remove the inner cover. Do not damage the cover.

2. Wipe off grease from the drive shaft and the inner ring of the outer joint.



3. Apply a paint mark to the drive shaft to indicate the position of the outer joint end.

4. Carefully secure the drive shaft in a vice.

5. Using a special tool, remove the outer joint.
