Attention:
- Check the serviceability and tension of the drive belts of mounted units as necessary.
- Check accessory drive belts with engine cold or wait 30 minutes after engine has stopped.
Examination
Note: term "used belt", refers to a belt that has been in operation for more than 5 minutes.
1. Check the tension of the accessory drive belts. Install the belt tension test tool between the two pulleys in the location shown in the figure and check the tension. If the belt tension is too high, adjust it.
Belt tension:
- new - 981-1130 N
- used - 440-590 N
2. Apply a force of 98 N to the drive belt at the location shown in the figure. If the belt deflection is greater than the nominal, adjust it.
Nominal belt deflection:
- new - 3.5 - 5.0 mm
- used - 5.5 - 8.5 mm
3. If necessary, adjust the tension of the accessory drive belts.
- A) Loosen the lock and set bolt.
- b) Adjust the deflection and tension of the accessory drive belts using the adjusting bolt.
- V) Tighten all mounting bolts.
A - locking bolt
B - mounting bolt,
C - adjusting bolt.
4. Check the tension and deflection of the accessory drive belts. Repeat the adjustment if necessary.
