The shift solenoid valve E regulates the hydraulic pressure by switching the shift lock valve on and off. The PCM unit actuates the gear shift solenoid valve E and the solenoid valve A for regulating the pressure in the automatic transmission clutches and controls the locking of the torque converter clutch. When the gear shift solenoid valve E is switched on, the lock-up mode begins to operate.
The solenoid valve A for regulating the pressure in the automatic transmission clutches regulates and supplies hydraulic pressure to the locking control valve and regulates the volume of fluid for locking.
The locking mechanism is engaged in 3rd and 4th gears in position [D] and in 3rd gear in position [D] in the "overdrive off" mode.
