Replacing the waterproof film in the rear side door guides (Honda CR-V 2)

Note:
  • Prevent dust from entering the work area.
  • When working at low temperatures, warm up the door guide and film using a hair dryer.


Door guide: about 15°C

Door guide film: about 30°C
  • When heating the door guide film, do it evenly and gradually so that the film does not deform.
  • When applying the film, press it slowly from the corner to avoid trapping air bubbles and creating wrinkles.
  • If air does get trapped under the film, release the air by pressing with your finger or a plastic scraper.
  • If air bubbles exceed 10 mm in diameter, roll up the film and apply the sticker again.

1. The following tools are required to replace the waterproof film of the door guide:
  • Plastic scraper.
  • Alcohol.
  • Sponge or napkin.
  • Hair dryer.

2. Remove the following components:
  • External door glass seal.
  • Glass guide channel (if necessary).
  • Middle door pillar seal.

3. Slowly roll off the old door guide film, warming it up with a hair dryer.

4. Clean the contact surface of the door guide with a sponge soaked in alcohol. After cleaning, do not allow oil, grease or water to come into contact with the surface.

5. Stick the film on the door guide:
  • Peel back the edge of the protective backing from the adhesive film.
  • Apply the film to the door guide.
  • Press the film against the door guide, gradually unwinding the protective backing from it. Make sure that the film is laid parallel to the door guide.
  • Press the door guide film firmly with a plastic scraper (felt side).

Note: To avoid trapping air bubbles, slowly press the door guide film onto the corners of the door frame.




6. Repeat the above steps if necessary.

7. Install all other removed parts,

8. Make sure that the body-colored areas in the door guide are covered with film.

9. Check for water leakage.
