Adjusting the position of the front and rear side door (Honda CR-V 2)

The lower B-pillar contains the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) components. Review the SRS component locations, precautions, and procedures before attempting repair or maintenance.

Note: Make sure the door is flush with the body, then make sure the gaps between the front, rear, and bottom edges of the door and the body are equal. Make sure the door edges and the body are parallel. Replace the mounting bolts before adjusting.


1. When adjusting the door position, the vehicle must be on a firm, level surface.

2. Adjust the hinges.
  • Slightly loosen the door mounting bolts (B) and slide the door IN or OUT until it is flush with the body.

  • On the front door: Remove the inner fender panel and fender fairing. Slightly loosen the hinge mounting bolts (C) and move the door FORWARD or BACKWARD, UP or DOWN to even out the gaps.
  • At the rear door: Remove the lower B-pillar trim panel, front seat belt and pretensioner, and remove the plug from the body. Loosen the hinge mounting bolts (D) slightly and move the door FORWARD or BACKWARD, UP or DOWN to even out the gaps.
  • When adjusting the door, cover the jack (F) with a cloth (E) to avoid damaging the door.

3. Make sure the edges of the door and the body are parallel. If necessary, adjust the rear edges of the doors flush with the body using the door shock absorbers (A).

4. Apply body color paint to the hinge mounting bolts and around the hinges.

5. Check for water leakage.
