When you press the brake pedal, you can feel the pedal vibrate slightly. This is normal and indicates that the ABS system is working. Keep depressing the brake pedal with force.
At low speed (below 10 km/h) the ABS system does not work and the brakes operate normally.
This system does not serve to reduce the braking distance. As with cars without ABS, the more slippery the road, the longer the braking distance. In addition, even with ABS operation, the improvement in traction and vehicle handling is limited, so care must be taken when driving at high speed on a slippery road.
On rough, sandy roads and deep fresh snow, a vehicle with ABS may have a longer stopping distance than a vehicle without ABS. In the above road conditions, keep your distance between vehicles and drive at a moderate speed.
Instruction. Tires on all four wheels must be the same size. If tire sizes (outside diameter) are different, the ABS system will not work properly.
ABS warning lamp
This lamp is located on the instrument panel and lights up when there is a malfunction in the ABS system.
When the ignition key is turned to position «II» The lamp lights up for a few seconds and then goes out. Ego is normal. It is also normal for the lamp to come on for a few seconds while driving and then go out.
A malfunction of the system can be indicated by the following behavior of the indicator lamp. In such cases, immediately go to a Honda service for diagnostics.
- The lamp lights up while driving.
- The lamp does not light up when the ignition key is turned to the «II» or does not go out after a few seconds.
In all these cases, the brakes work normally (without ABS).
If the ABS warning lamp comes on at the same time as the brake warning lamp, then the distribution of the brake force may not occur and the vehicle may become unmanageable during heavy braking. In this case, avoid high-speed driving and sudden braking, contact a Honda dealer.
