2. Install the spring washer on the input shaft with the concave side facing the first gear pinion.
3. Install the primary shaft into the clutch housing.
4. Clean the mating surfaces of the gearbox housing and clutch housing from dirt and install the housing on the clutch housing. Tighten the 8 mm bolts to 28 Nm and the 10 mm bolts to 45 Nm.
5. Tap the input shaft with a plastic hammer.
6. Install the seal and shaft holder of the end play checking tool 07GAJ-PG20101 onto the input shaft and tighten the 3 bolts into the slot below the splines. Make sure they are seated properly and do not pinch the splines.
7. Position the indicator dial so that the pointer lies on the outer circumference of the shaft end.
8. Turn the bolt clockwise and determine the gap.
Do not turn the bolt more than 60° after the pointer on the dial stops moving.
9. The clearance tolerance for 1988 transmissions is 0.14-0.21 mm. For 1989-91 models - 0.10-0.16 mm. If the clearance does not meet the tolerance, then the entire procedure above must be repeated. Do not continue assembly until the appropriate clearance is obtained.
10. Once the correct clearance has been obtained, disassemble the gearbox and completely reassemble the input shaft assembly.
